Diversity Statement

I am different from my classmates because I look at my twelve month old son everyday and think of ways to better myself and how it would benefit him. I use him as my motivation.

This impacts my thinking about my role as teaching because as an educator, I have to think about more than why this child is not performing well in school but what is going on at home. Maybe that child is not happy or maybe they don’t have the proper support.

I can use this knowledge in my classroom to promote democracy because I know that I have to take into consideration, the individual need of each child. Therefore, I feel like I should treat each child the same, but I need to be aware of and take into consideration their weakness.
